2008 vs 2014 JK ?
All,
I am looking at the 2014 2-dr X. I currently have a 2008 2-dr X.
Outside of the engine, are there any other major improvements/changes that I should be aware of with the newer model years? I have looked at the spec sheets, but it doesn't really highlight "whats new".
Thanks!

I used to have a 2010 2 door sport, and now I have a 2013 2 door Rubicon. By the X model I'm assuming your saying a Rubicon X?, If so yes the engine will be different, lower gear tansfer case, d44 axle up front 4.10 or 3.73 gear ratio and new interior. Transmission is the same body and everything else the same. I do love my new rubicon and the 3.6 VVT, def more power and it feels right with my 35's on it now compared to my 2010 with the 3.8. I do think back sometimes and think I should have kept the 2010(seeing as I would have it payed off in like a year from now, and now I have 5 more to go on my rubi), so if thats no concern to you than I'm sure you would enjoy your new 2014.
First thing that is different is the name. The X model is now the sport. I also believe there are two trim levels in the sport model. The interior is different. 2011+ has a make over. IMO it is much nicer. You can also get a touchscreen radio that is not nav.

The seats also changed. No longer are vinyl seats available (I had them in my X), they're all cloth now, and the seat design changed at the end of the 2012 model year.
I can't remember if seat-mounted airbags were an option in the early years or not. Well, now they are. And there are a bunch of little easter-eggy things, like the defroster vent design change so it actually defrosts the sides of the windows, one-touch lane change on the signal stalk, the Freedom top and soft top designs were tweaked slightly, they put a cute little organizer in the rear storage compartment, the base model now comes with a console (I didn't have one in my X, anyway), and I think the passenger window is now auto-down as well on the power window -optioned models (although I can't remember for sure).

I went from a 07 2 door x to a 14 sport 4 door. The interior has a lot of small differences like auto dim rear view mirror. Footwell light. Jeep decals and emblems everywhere. Front turn signals are clear. Steering wheel controls for radio. Best thing to do is go sit in one. I went to the 14 because of the engine. 5 speed auto instead of the 4 speed. And since I went to the 4 door more room.
Idk how the 14 2 door seats flip up but in the 4 door they flip completely flat. I didn't like how my 07 2 door flipped it up and then you have to strap it up so it wouldn't move.

I just went from a 2008 X to a 2014 Rubicon X a little over a month ago, and have to say I'm glad I did. Most of the differences / changes have been mentioned all ready, and the biggest is the motor. The 3.6L has transformed the JK into a totally different vehicle. All of the other little creature comforts and tweaks that have been added since 2008 are just bonus perks. Get the 2014, preferably with 4.10's... you won't regret it.
The 14 seems to be the best Wrangler to date.
Don't forget, though, that Chrysler still neglects to use the correct bolts for the track bars and control arms!
I wish I had a trans cooler in my 08. I can't install one without voiding the lifetime warranty. That's the biggest and most important upgrade between the 08 and the 14, IMO. I am too easy on the pedal to notice the extra horses in the new engines. It's an excellent motor though no doubt.
