Default How are rear bumpers with tow hitches/hooks attached?

I am going to build my own rear bumper and want to incorporate a hitch and rings but the factory attachment method seems pretty sketchy and poorly tied into the frame. How are aftermarket bumpers with these options tied in?

The hitches are typically welded into the bumper frame and then that frame is bolted to the factory frame. Some manufacturers run a slab deeper into the frame for a shackle mount. Below is what GenRight uses in my bumper. It has a provision for using the stock hitch (4 bolts to the crossmember)
