Default Build your own snorkel

Who has done this? I'm thinking of doing it but I just want some ideas, opinions, and brainstorming before hand. I am very picky with not cutting corners when I fab my own stuff and cutting corners or just settling for a pos build that I do. So help me out. Ideas? Thoughts? Opinions? I will update this thread with pics as I do this unless my mind is changed to not do it...

One guy on here has one. I think it looks hideous but to each his own. I bought my AEV gen2. Took only a couple hours to install and looks awesome. Kept everything factory underneath the hood too.

But i have seen another build, it looked like a humvee style intake. That was a cool setup! Just google it, his pics can be found

I build an intake with custom battery box and cowl snorkel. I don't play in mud much, and it fits my needs well. Has a custom battery tray and aluminum flanges welded and bead rolled for the passthroughs. Uses a K&N Apollo sealed airbox.

I had a nice write up on this when I first did it back in 2010 but it was scrubbed when I got banned.

Default I have seen

I have seen many who have made their own.

For the cost and time involved, something like the rugged ridge snorkel for 270$ Isn't too bad. Or a Chinese knockoff of the aev for 100 on ebay. I hate look of aev snorkel though. Much prefer river raider, rugged ridge for looks and style.

Thinking about selling my banks cai and getting snorkel some day!

[QUOTE="Ringer;3834806"]I build an intake with custom battery box and cowl snorkel. I don't play in mud much, and it fits my needs well. Has a custom battery tray and aluminum flanges welded and bead rolled for the passthroughs. Uses a K&N Apollo sealed airbox.

This is very awesome. Good job man. I ended up buying a knock off on eBay and I will silicone the heck out of it to ensure it does it's job. Thanks all for the posts. I was originally gonna build my own but it will be to difficult with the small amount of room in my jk engine bay. I do wish I would have saw your post before buying it though because that is the best homemade one I have seen
