Trying to find a quality lift kit for my stock 09' Wrangler X Unlimited. I'm liking the reviews on the Teraflex 3" kit. My question is...does this kit come with ALL essential parts and hardware to get my Jeep on the street!? Also, this will be my first suspension install, can I expect any cutting, wielding, trimming, etc? OH! How bout them shocks, good enough?? Give me all the advise you have! Thank you! Open the two threads stickied to the top of this modified area.

That kit does not include caster correction or a way to center the front axle. What are your plans for if/when a driveshaft fails due to the lift height.

Welcome to the forum Mr. Raw do some reading... All the info is already posted, several times...

What are you planning to run for tires, what are you planning to do with your jeep....??? Pretty vague first post.

Most of the well know companies provide everything necessary. With a basic lift of 3" you will likely have flighty steering and possibly bump steer. Again it all depends what you do with your jeep, it all can be corrected...

Sure that kit has the parts you need. But it is basic. You're going to want a more complete kit if you want your Jeep to perform as well as it does in stock form. You may not really need 3" though.
Also you may need a new front driveshaft. Depending in year and what you plan on doing with your rig.

The kit is fairly complete. Looks like there's a rear track bar relo bracket--that will be most of your drilling. Your front drive shaft could be an issue--do you have a 2 or 4 door? How much wheeling will you do?

More important question is how complete is your tool kit? Sockets and wrenches? Jack stands and lift? You'll need spring compressors. Oh and a 2nd set of hands really helps. Not trying to scare you at all -just making sure you have the right stuff. The actual install is pretty easy, it's the follow up and dialing in alignment post lift and making sure you tighten everything up after 100 miles or so is where people get in troubl. The devil is always in the details. Good luck, read ALOT on the forum. People are here to help.

2 door or 4 door? With a 4 door you'll be ok for awhile on stock driveshafts. 2 door you'll need to address those very soon if not right away on the front. You'll want an adjustable front trackbar. Also, you'll want to get adjustable front and rear upper control arms. So, no that kit is not really "ready to hit the street".

Very minor drilling for that kit. I don't think there is any drilling for the rear trackbar relocate bracket as mentioned. I believe there is no drilling for a basic 3-4" kit. You do not need spring compressors either as mentioned above. The springs will come out with no safety concern as long as you lower the axles enough.

So to sum it up: yes you can do it at home with basic tools, yes you can align it yourself if you know how or can follow directions, you will need a few more parts if you want to dial in the suspension and alignment (adj front trackbar, adj front lower control arms, adj rear upper control arms), and lastly-you will want new shocks being 3" taller than stock.

You should want front lower adjustable control arms if only doing one set, not uppers on the front. Shortening uppers will reduce your wheelbase even more. The adjustable lowers will gain you a bit of wheelbase while adjusting the caster.

Thanks Guys! All good information! I'm planning on buyin some 33s to start. Money is tight. Then upgrade to 35s once the 33s have dissolved. It's my commute/every day vehicle. I want the ability to do some off-roading. Muddying mainly. It is a 4 door. There is a more complete kit, but it's about $1000 more which includes all 8 control arms...didn't know if that was necessary. From what I've read I can get away with not replacing the front track bar, drive shaft, and control arms?? True?? What I wanna do is buy for the future, so I don't have to replace anything down the road. I wanna buy a kit with potential! Know what I'm sayin??

What I would like to do is purchase a solid base. Then add on little by little. I DO NOT wanna have to save a butt load of money to buy it all at once...is this possible?
