Default '11 3.8L in a '07 wrangler

I'm planning to put an '11 wrangler sport 3.8 in my '07 unlimited Sahara. I'm swapping only the engine (no tranny). I notice the compatibility charts exclude the '07 jeeps ( but include '08-'11) Why? What issues will I have or can I expect? These are the same 3.8L engines but I don't understand why the charts don't show a match. Any help or idea why that is?

For those that feel the need to ask - no I'm not taking the opportunity to go hemi or LS1. Just a simple engine swap and magnuson supercharger for half the price. I found a brand new '11 engine from a jeep wrangler sport and couldn't pass considering the mileage on my current engine.

You wont be disappointed with your option. Twin screw 3.8's drive very well.

On your issue, i dont you will have any problem bolting up that engine. Only issue is that 11's ran the new ecu. Im thinking it maybe that, unless it all wires up the same as a 7-10' jk.

Jsears did the same swap and ran into some issues. You may want to contact him and see what you can do to avoid the issues.

I just sent JSears a note on his build thread. I have a shortening window to get this done as I am planing a road trip to Moab for the Easter Safari in April. I hope to know where I might stumble early.

I have searched the forums and have not been able to find a clear answer what problems exist when transplanting a '11 3.8 into a '07.

Got a reply from Greg at AEV who has done a similar swap. In summary, the engines are the same and the differences are the wiring and some sensors. He recommended setting the Jeep up as a 2007 (wiring/computer/sensors/etc) because 'the 2011 wiring will give me fits.'

I will be doing this swap in the next couple weeks followed by the Magnuson aev supercharger install. Then a road trip from WI to Moab.

My supercharger showed up today - on a pallet and two large boxes. This thing was packed to the hilt! First things first - need to get the new engine and begin that swap!

I like your idea!

For the headers you will find some useful information in this thread: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/gibson-headers-9109/

Feel free to ask any questions upfront. I would also be interested in your opinion about the headers once you have returned from Moab.

Good luck with everything!
