Default 33s with a RC 3.25" Lift

Whats going on guys. New here to the forum, and just had a quick question. I drive a 2010 Sahara 4D. I am putting a 3.25" Rough Country Lift. My buddy is giving me a killer deal on 33" Nitto Trail Grapplers that is hard to turn down. My question is, would I be better off with 35s? Rubbing wont be an issue as I have aftermarket fenders to accomodate. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks.

You would be better off with 35's and not running the 3.25" rough country lift. But it is your jeep.

You don't need any lift to run 33s--especially with flat flares.

If you want, you could run a leveling kit to get rid of the forward rake.

The shocks that come with the RC 3.25" lift are reported as being quite stiff, and there are many reports of premature failures.

With more than about a 2.5" lift, there are additional components that are desired for the vehicle to handle properly. The RC 3.25" is incomplete. If someone bought the lift and didn't mind the super stiff shocks, they could simply skip installing the 0.75" coil spacers to be at a 2.5" lift. Even then, 2.5" with flat flares will look a little like a roller-skate with less than 35" tires.

Thanks for the input. Now when you say there are components that are desired what are you referring to? I have a dual steering stabilizer, and an adjustable track bar amongst other parts. I also have upgraded shocks, what else would you suggest? As far as the 33s I totally understand what your saying, but I am getting a set of 5 for 1000 dollars, its hard to pass on that, and I already have the lift, so what is the downside of having the 33s on there with the RC 3.25" lift?

Dual steering stabilizers are a waste of money and really do nothing for you. That kit totally ignores your steering geometry. You will have very light steering feel, some call it "flighty". You will loose wheel base and may need to trim the body to prevent wheel/body damage to the jeep. At some point you will likely have driveshaft failure.
What are your "upgraded" shocks and what are their compressed and extended lengths.

It is easy to pass up on a set of 33" tires for $1000. Just say no.

This thread will give you some insight on lifts.

Good luck with the build.

With more than 2.5" lift, you want front lower adjustable control arms to be able to fix your caster alignment specs.

If you want to skip buying adjustable front lower control arms, install the lift without the 0.75" coil spacers. In fact, it makes no sense to install those 0.75" coil spacers unless you were going to run 37s with flat flares and extended bumpstops.

If you are running different shocks, you likely need extended bumpstops to ensure that the shocks don't bottom out on full compression. You may also need extended brakelines if the RC brakeline relocation brackets are not long enough to handle the increased shock length.

Other than it will look funny, there isn't a reason you wouldn't run 33s with a 2.5" lift and flat flares.

Personally, if I were going to run 33s with flat flares on a 4 door, I wouldn't install anything other than maybe the 0.75" coil spacers in the front and keep everything else in the suspension stock until I upgraded to 35s.
