i am looking at Fuel's d551 wheel for my 2014 Amp'd 2dr Rubicon X. I will be doing a 2.5" lift with 35" Cooper STT tires. I really like the look of the d551 but i either want the 17x8.5 with 4.5 backspacing or the 18x10 with 4.5 backspacing. The cost diff between the 17" and 18" Cooper tires is really nothing so that does not come into play. Anyone running these wheels? Any thoughts? I like how the size of the 18" looks but i am not sure about running the 10" wide wheels. Seems like most aftermarket wheels are the 17x8.5" range. Would the smaller wheel be better for off roading bc the smaller width to air down tires or would the 18x10 wheel work same for the 35x12.50? Since i would not be going super low on air psi bc they are not beadlocks would the 10" width still hold the bead? Fuel said the weights of the wheels were ard 27 lbs for the 17" and 32 lbs for the 18" wheels. There is a 2lb diff between the two cooper stt tires. So total weight diff between the two combos would be around 7lbs per wheel with the 18". Which would lead to a small diff in performance on the highway.

 

I have 18s now......not fuels......but I want them. If I sell mine I will be getting these in the 17" version. One reason is they are 40 dollars cheaper per tire in the nitto brand, which I will always buy....great tires....

Other reason is clist and this website always has tires for sale and I rarely see any for an 18" wheel.
I like the look of the 17 and 35 combo also

 

I'm looking into the Fuel D525 Revolver 17x9 or 18x9 with 35" or 37" tires. I'm still deciding on the wheel and tire size.
Which size did you decide to get? 17" or 18"? Are you happy with your choice?

 

I'd go with the 17x8.5 for a few reasons over the 18.

What are the reasons?

I was thinking of the 18" with 35" for a shorter sidewall for better street stability and handling. I'm not a serious offroader yet and don't think I'll need the extra rubber when I air down on the occasion.
