Default New Jeep grill slot shape?

Ok, I'm spending way too much time looking at Jeeps and ppl's build.

I was reading up on the grill mods: bed lining, and the mesh gutter mod... and while doing some googling, I noticed something peculiar. the 7 slot shape is different on some models!
anyone else notice this?

I found that 3 models had a flatter slot design. and I think it looks better! the dragon edition, polar edition, and the flat top concept all have a squarer slot shape (smaller radius). my 2014 sport has a more rounder slot ends. any thoughts?
I know there is an insert on the 3 models, but I dont care for the inserts, but i do care for the flatter shape!

I looked at Mopar website, but they only sell the rounder one in chrome.

Try looking at yours from higher up. It will appear flatter.

I think this may be an illusion caused by the accent color used in the contour areas leading from the from surface down into the slot.

I think it's an illusion, too.

possibly, but i found two pics of practically same height, and the stock still looks rounder to me than the special editions.

here are the links to compare:
stock
limited edition

the inserts may be the cause of this flat "illusion", but wouldn't adding more material cause the slot to appeear even rounder due to less room on top for the flat area, causing the radius to come closer?

That's what I thought. Something to do with the insert, possibly.

I'm still not convinced that it is the inserts creating the illusion. So, I made a gif. juxtaposing the two grills.
Still the same?
