Default Will this fit on the stock tire carrier?

Hey All,

I plan on lifting my Jeep soon (2013 JKU Sport) and I am wondering if I can mount the new wheel and tire on the stock tire carrier?

I am getting Pro Comp 7069's in 17 x 9 with Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs in 315/70 r17

I tried a few searches but was not able to find an answer...

Thanks!

I'm not sure but I think it will fit. I had my ProComp wheel(7031) and 33 Nitto TG, and there was plenty of room. The real question is should you. I recently added a Teraflex hinge/carrier to beef up things.

It should fit on there, just make sure that you extend the bumpstops so the tire is nice and tight to save your tailgate and hinges.

What is the backspace on the rim? The only people that seem to have problems are the ones stuffing wide tires on stock rims, then they have to buy a spacer to move the tire out on the carrier. (as well as wheel spacers).

X2 on the teraflex carrier. That's a lot of weight on some cheap sheet metal of door. A lot of people have done it but for piece of mind I upgraded and love the new carrier.

X3 on the TeraFlex carrier. That should be the minimum unless you plan on a bumper w/ swing out tire carrier.

Feel free to give us a shout for forum pricing!

Thumbs up

Backspacing is 4.5 I believe. I plan on getting the Teraflex HD Hinged Carrier, just not at the moment, money is gonna dry up quick after the lift, tires and wheels. Maybe I will just delete the spare until I get the Hinged Carrier.

You know ( i'm sure you do), I don't think I will ever be "finished" with my Jeep. I still want front and rear bumpers, side rails, seat covers, LED lights... not to mention getting a bigger lift later, bigger tires, drive shafts, lockers, and a whole bunch of other stuff that I have not even heard of yet...

Resistance is futile....

Sounds like you're good to go with the backspace and tire size.

I ran 35's for several years on the stock carrier. Extended bumpstops to keep the bigger tire from twisting side-to-side are a good idea!! Some people have had issues, so make your own judgement call.

I added the teraflex hinge, and ran it with the stock carrier with 35's, and then with 37's, for about 6 months before finally getting around to removing the stock carrier and adding the tf carrier. So you have a few options if you can't swing the whole thing at one time.

My 315/70 17 duratrac on an AEV pintler does NOT fit on the stock tailgate carrier. Depending on the backspacing of the wheel you use you might need a spacer and extended bumpstops.
