Default Attn - AEV 3.5 and 4.5 lift owners

Hi -

I have a 2013 JKUR and have the AEV 3.5 kit (more or less). The only thing I haven't done is drop the trans crossmember. I see in their instructions, it says to add spacers to that, which is likely to drop it down a little bit so that the DS doesn't rub on it at full articulation. Can anyone tell me how thick those spacers/washers are?

Thanks.

And if you can give the diameter too, that'd be great.

Thanks.

I think you are referring to adding spacers to the exhaust? The newer JKs have an exhaust crossover in front of the crossmember, which is where the driveshaft issue occurs. Several companies offer spacer kits (I think Teraflex is around $50 or so). If you don't plan to off-road the Jeep, you likely won't need them. It is just when you are flexing that it is an issue.

Note that the out-of-the-box exhaust spacers also push the crossover down. Many of the aftermarket skid plates don't work with that. Just something to keep in mind. I'd personally rather have skids to protect everything, so my vote was for a new drive shaft.

You'll need a new driveshaft sooner than later. The rzeppa joint at the transfercase will fail. Mine lasted about 9 months. If a pavement pounder you might get more. If you offroad occasionally, it will need it soon.

Sent from some string and a few tin cans.

I am also looking for the length of the rear sway links from the AEV 3.5" JKU kit.

Thanks.

I'm surprised that I haven't heard anything on this. AEV is a fairly common lift, isn't it? Vendors?

You should try contacting AEV directly or checking with Dave at Northridge4x4. He's a vendor of the kits (as are most dealerships). The AEV forums may even provide you with a better answer.

This isn't a new solution, I know MKJeep posted pics 3 or 4 years ago of how he added washers and also cut a chunk out of the skid itself. I don't think the specific washer thickess is any concern, just stack enough of them to drop the skid the amount that you want. (I think he had like 4 or 5 washers stacked on each bolt).

Here is my recommendation go to the hardware store and buy a bunch of washers all of different sizes

You will thank me for this advice later. Having washers of all difference sizes and thicknesses on hand I find is critical to working on Jeeps.

Yes - I have various washers laying around, so I am good there. I would rather use a large diameter spacer sleeve, rather than a stack of 5-6 washers. I'm OCD that way. Thought it would be a quick question answered. I appreciate the help from everyone. I'll check out the AEV forum as suggested.

Thanks.
