Default Stock gearing with 35s?

Is it really a problem to run 35x12.50s with stock 3.11 gearing? I don't do a whole lot of wheeling with my jk at the moment so maybe it would work short term? Anyone done the same thing and has experience would be greatly appreciated

I haven't heard of 3.11 gears. What year and model do you have?

Yes, it will be fine short term. Depending on what you have and your personal opinion of 'gutless', maybe even long term. If you have a 6spd, you may rarely use 6th anymore, and if an auto, turn OD off.

If you open the FAQ's link at the top of this modified area and scroll down to the drivetrain section, you will find some charts. Just plug in some numbers.

I have 315/70R17 with 3.21 gears, and a six speed behind a 3.6. On the highway 6th is only good at 70 on the flat. Other than that I really don't have an issue with it. Around town it is just fine, and back and forth to to work is good. I am getting about 17-18 mpg. Longer trips on back roads gets me about 20 mpg. She will still roll with a double down shift.

I have 315/75r/16 on 2014 jku with 3.6 auto trans and I barley feel a differ from when I had the stockers on it .. So many ppl say you have to change the gears that's all bs the truck will run fine. If you have the new 3.6 like I do even better . Try for yourself than make the choice

You aren't in 5th gear. Try manually shifting to 5th to check your rpm. I know I could cruise about the same with 35 and 3.21 but it was third gear.

You'd probably be around 1750rpm with 35's and 3.21. You would cruise in third gear and 4 and 5th would be about worthless.
