Daystar d shackle isolaters
Does anyone run daystar shackle isolators without the extra washers that come with it i want to take the washers off and leave the shackle isolator itself but I'm kinda worried that I will mess up the powder coating but the washers are a pain to get on any time a recover someone and it doesn't allow the shackle to move freely
I've got the washers and the isolaters. Benn running for over a year. No issues with the smooth black powder coat on my warn. The rings would do a heck of a lot more damage to your powder coat. <img src="https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=554318"/> Looks good under and around.
If you place a rubber washer either side of the shackles they won't move, even at high speed. Have had mine that way for 2+ years on my LOD mid-width. Will take a pic when it's light again tomorrow.
I took some unused leaf spring bushings from an old lift kit and cut the small diameter off leaving just a big heavy duty flat washer. I've got one on each side of my D-rings and I crank them sorta tight with a screwdriver. That way no one can walk buy and steal them bare handed. They don't rattle at all and barely move unless you pull on them. All you gotta do is keep a screwdriver in the dash if needed!!

But the metal clanging against your powder coat will damage it eventually for sure.
I too have cut prices of rubber (old bike tire tubes) that worked exceptionally well. I just like the quality of what I have now better.
You can buy broader shackles if necessary. Get the washers and try them first. It may work. But the metal clanging against your powder coat will damage it eventually for sure.
