Undercarriage rust question
So, I bought my jk brand new in 2010. I know jeeps are notorious for their ruse, and currently mine is living up to the reputation. My lift is rusted, my frame is rusted, my axels are rusted, my steering components are rusted. So this brings me to my next question...anyone know how much it costs (roughly) to take it somewhere and have them de-rust my jeep? Right now it's all surface rust, no rotting, so I'm sure it's a matter of wire brushing, sanding, prepping, and coating it...but it's my daily driver and I work 60 plus hours a week...I don't have time to sit under there and do it all myself. My jeeps almost paid off, and I intend on it lasting me a hell of a long time, but it makes me feel like I'm driving a hoopty when all I can see is rusty parts under my jeep, and I feel like it's only a matter of time before that rust starts turning I to a bigger problem
My 2010 has all kinds of rust underneath. I am buying a project 1978 International Scout this weekend with over 100k miles and it has no rust underneath. I guess the Ziebart undercoating worked!!!!!
I know that's not an answer to your question but I feel your rust pain.

I'm sure you could find some one to do it, most likely a soda blast will be used to clean it and be more economical than having some one try to brush it off. As far as price it depends entirely on who ever does it for you. I have been fortunate to have some great deals in that area but I would imagine $100-$300 would be a respectable price for the blasting at least if not some sort of undercoating as well. Certainly undercoating is good especially for areas where rust is common. Undercarriage cleaning also helps whether or not you get it refinished.
You live in an area that gets heavy weather and therefore your jeep is going to be subjected to salt on roads. I lived in Nebraska and know. I now live the Carolina's and have a 2011 with very little rust. Aftermarket parts for one usually in my experience do not have a very good coating on them. I owned a bronco years ago and installed a Superlift suspension. I knew their coatings blew so I took the parts to a powder coating company, had coating burned off and reapplied in a different color. Kept the bronco for years and those parts were the only thing that did not rust. If you can make the time pick up some Por-15. This product can be applied over rust. You just need to apply additional product before. It is for restoration projects.
