opinions and suggestion appreciated on jk project
Hey guys new to the forum personally but I've been reading posts for months now gathering Intel and ideas from many members hear. I just traded in my beloved tj for a jk and I'm totally stumped about the different things I've read here and basically where I go in customizing my new jeep.
My old jeep 03 sahara i6 manual I bought used and was a perfect setup for me but I don't know what was put in it between axles, gears, and lockers but it had a 4 inch skyjacker lift with 33x12.5x15r bfgoodrich mud terrains, a warn winch, a k&n cold air intake, and borla exhausts. I lived in central louisiana and was constantly in axle deep mud and water . Then moved to south Padre island and ran around in super soft sand and dunes looking for new unspoiled fishing spots. Sadly it kept on tearing up transmissions and we couldn't figure out what was the problem so I traded it in for a 14 jk 2 Dr sport s manual transmission with 3.73 gears
Now I want to make a setup that'll work for me and it gets tricky. I was thinking about installing an old man emu 2 inch lift the light load because I won't be putting on a steel bumper, some 33x12.5x15r if my spare tire bracket will hold one if not a 285x75x16r with dick cepek mud country tires, and the kc lights on the windshield brackets. I run 50 to 60mi a day back and forth to work and really don't go offloading but maybe 4 times a month but when I do it gets pretty remote. Then every October, november, and december, I go to louisiana (and the axle deep mud and water) for a week a month for hunting season (a 1400 mi round trip). Will this setup be fine for my needs? What else would I need besides the lift itself? And biggest question is will 3.73s work or do I go to 4.56 even though I drive alot? O I forgot to mention I believe I have I have dana 30 or 35 front axles and 44 rear, and I'm worried I'm gona snap the front axles with this setup.
all your opinions and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I apologize if it turned to one of those million asked and answered before questions. Thanks in advanced. Kraken

D30 front, non-rubicon D44 rear. Drive it with the new tires to get your own opinion, but the gearing should be fine.
Depending on your actual usage/needs, look in to front axle gussets and possibly a truss and/or sleeves if you think you want or need the extra strength.
There are several variations of the OME lifts, which specific components are coming in yours?
Since you play in mud and water, you might look at extending the breathers.
If you are thinking about lockers along with new gears, you might consider looking around for a used set of 'JK' rubicon axles to swap on instead. (some people have good luck finding them for a decent price, others don't)
