Default Willys / Upcoming Purchase

Convinced the wife, time to trade in '08 Unlimited X / Soft Top. We looked at the Willys and its hitting on some of the cosmetic things she wants, the blackout rims, bigger tires. But, what else can I expect for the upgrade, and how much more if we get the hardtop?

Any input would be helpful

You get Rubi suspension. A hardtop is a good investment. The package itself as per list price versus content is
rather high when comparing some other packages on other model Wranglers. BUT.....the important thing is
if you guys like it, GO FOR IT!

Actually all you get is the rubicon rims (can be bought on cl in my city for 800 with the tires). You get 3.73 gears which is a 3 or 500 dollar option can't remember atm. Rubi rock rails (usually around 150) on craigslist. Then you get the stickers.

The suspensions are the same as the sport.

I know this because I was in your boat 1 week ago. I bought a sport hard top with posi and 3.73s for 3k cheaper. Then grabbed wheels and tires for a total of 600 after selling my stock wheels and sliders for 360.

Gl with the purchase they are all fun just have to decide what you want.

There is also some kind of trail recovery tool kit you get. That's rather interesting, and might even be a worthy collectible at some time in the future.

BTW: Just passed through Ajo a couple weeks ago after spending the night down at Organ Pipe. I like to drive that way when heading from Tucson (where my oldest daughter lives) to San Diego (where my folks live). Photographed some of the blooms on the cacti ...

Yeah...appreciate the input. You know, with all the options, it doesn't get easier, it gets harder. I wish a build your jeep, was actually a build-the-jeep-you-want option.

But in doing a comparison, she saw that one of the Willy packages, advises manual windows, no power door locks, etc. So, that's a deal breaker. I'm pretty much back to the Unlimited X, which I guess now they call the Unlimited Sport (S).

I could do the rims swap and such, add the few other things, and call it a day (or weekend).

I also got on TrueCar, did the USAA car buy program, as well as SamsClub....they all seem the same, almost like just another venue for advertising the auto of you choice, and being something of a shill for the local car dealers.

Can I expect any better with a membership in TreadLightly?

I was going to head out today to look at least 2 lots, one in Surprise, the other in Peoria, but its already 103

Ajo, yes, its a good place to just pass thru!

I got mine and my fathers for 599 both under invoice. He got the sport s and I wanted no options. We both got 3.73s and posi though. Hardtop is also a good choice to do from factory so it come with the wiring and wiper.

Alright...I know not everyone is a jeep guy or girl, but come on, if you sell them for a living?

I saw most of the soft tops in a lot we walked through, with clear windows. My soft top has dark tinted windows rear and sides. the guy says no, they don't come like that, the dealer I bought from must have had tint applied..really?

I found that the Willys Wheeler-W has power windows, and remote key, power locks, etc. I was advised by a salesman never heard of that.

Would it break protocol if I shot a request to the regional section on dealer recommendations?

The Willys W is a tough find. I was looking for one but I only could find them in black or billet and decided against that. I do not like being like everyone else. I looked long and hard for the rims but could not find them so the guy that says they sell for $800 around him thats a steal in my mind. I went with a sport I decided the options on the Willys wasn't worth the cost. Good luck finding one

Brake protocol? To get a recommendation on a reputable dealer? Of course not. You need to find someone who knows what their talking about.
