Default Does insurance cover your parts?

There's alot of nice jeeps on here, if someone steals your jeep to strip it down oe somehow takes your winch off your bumper, would your insurance company pay you back your aftermarket upgrades, Your winch, your tires and your lift?

Depends on if you've notified them of the upgrades and had them appraise it. I've had a few modded vehicles covered when stuff has happened but had to pay a considerable premium over my standard insurance to have that coverage. They also depreciate the value of the mods at the same rate as the vehicle so you never get enough back to replace/repair them fully.

Short answer... maybe.

Some companies will cover aftermarket parts "used exclusively with the vehicle" to varying limits... some will cover nothing above stock.

To take it a step further, some companies will not even write a "modified" vehicle, JK or otherwise.

Call your agent and find out. Maybe nothing changes, but at least you know.

USAA covers up to $5,000 in aftermarket parts as long as you can prove ownership. It's why I dumped Allstate after 20 years.

Esurance has an aftermarket coverage package... I have it to the top and keep all my receipts but it's not like it would cover it all. I think it just helps out if you were to total the vehicle.

State Farm covered all my aftermarket parts on my LJ when it got hit by a drunk driver. Paid about 80% of the new value. Prorated due to age.

I have never worried about it because most stock parts cost more then aftermarket and they have to at least cover the stock part

Most vehicles don't come with a winch, LEDs, CBs, etc stock.

Good concept for minor damage. Total your jeep and you're SOL
