Default Ebay "AEV HEAT REDUCTION" Knockoff Hood - Anyone seen/know about it?!

Anyone seen or have this hood or know anything about it? I have been looking at several hood options and don't know which one to go with.

I have been looking at :

- AEV Heat Reduction Hood

- Mopar 10th Anniversary Power Dome Hood ( will add AEV front vents to it)

- Poison Spyder Hood louver

But, last night while searching around ebay I found this hood :

07 14 Jeep Wrangler Heat Reduction Duraflex Body Kit Hood | eBay

It looks to be a knock off of the AEV Heat Reduction Hood. Its called the Duraflex Heat Reduction Hood and looks just like the AEV. But the best part is its only $431 Or you can make an offer! It does have $125 shipping fee but if you can get it for like $400 then its only $525 for the hood! Which is like $400 cheaper than AEV!

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this "Duraflex" brand or this hood in particular? Fit / quality?

I was excited to see this but after looking at the pic in the auction the hood isn't a very good fit. The gap at cowl is uneven and along the whole passenger side it's also not straight. For the price it might not matter to some but it doesn't look like a quality product.

I've got no fitment issues with my eBay snorkel though, lol!

yeah, I did notice a slight gap but it, to me, doesn't look that bad. Like you said, for the price it might be worth it

Make sure you catch these 2 notes:

All Sales are Final: Parts are unfinished and will require modification to obtain a finished product.

Installation: All parts must be prepped and installed by a professional body shop that has experience working with unfinished fiberglass car parts including but not limited to cutting, heating, filling, sanding, and shaving. Extra fees will be incurred for prepping parts for fitment.

That would be enough to cause me pause right there and go straight to the Mopar 10A/X or AEV hood.

I read that too. But I think that is a general disclaimer. The Duraflex disclaimer says that fitment is guaranteed and that pictures would be required to show if it doesn't fit so they can determine if they believe there is a fitment issue. While I'm not thrilled with that either, its not horrible. And for the price, it might just be worth giving it a shot. I think I might call the company tomorrow and see what they say.

anyone else seen, heard, or have experience with this company or hood

I can almost guarantee the photo used is a genuine AEV hood. A duraflex hood is going to be very soft and will probably twist and warp on the highway. Its also likely that it isnt going to fit anywhere as well as the one pictured. Even with the replacement guarantee, I wouldnt test my luck.

You will spend more money with a body shop for prep than the difference in cost of the AEV hood.

Guaranteed to fit ? Sure !!

Guaranteed to fit AND look good without $500 worth of fiberglass prep and $400 of paint work? Sure !!

This right here. My AEV hood and my buddies 10A/X hood went right on, only needed standard paint/prep for installation. How much prep labor would be needed for this thing to fit and look proper? At some point it negates the cost savings. This was discussed over on the AEV Forums and it was pointed out that several of their picture are of actual AEV hoods from customer or AEV rigs.

Thanx for the input. Not that I was going to buy the hood, just wondering if anyone knew anything about it. I actually just found out that I can get 30% off a local Jeep dealer thru my Jeep club! So, I think I will just get the 10A/X hood and add the front vents myself and paint it.
