Just got some 35's and want to do some good wheeling but have become a little nervous reading some posts. I would like to add inner axle sleeves and c gussets before it's too late. Got a ridiculous quote to weld in axle sleeves and add gussets. Did some research and found some companies making weldless sleeves that just pound in. Anyone use these? Are they just as good as the welded ones? Pros and cons? Would love to hear some info on these products

 

No, I don't have weld-less, hammer-in sleeves but they sound like I might want to try them.

Yep, got em and love em. Nitro sleeves. Actually just set them in the freezer for a few hours, took them out, put them in with very little force from a 10 lb. sledge and block of wood. Happy with them and the best part, no welding, which I can do but why when they offer these?

 

Freeze them for a day, clean the slag out of the first few inches of the tube, and whack them in with a coating of anti seize. Mine went in smoothly with a 4# Sledge

 

Can you use larger aftermarket axles with these sleeves?

 

Yes. As far as I know these are only sleeves you can. Weld in no u cant

 

You can run 35 splines with the Nitro sleeves, but not with any of the other sleeves on the market.

 

There are horror stories of these Nitro sleeves going in but with a little bit of prep work they'll slide right in! I froze them overnight in my home freezer on the coldest setting. The inner axle tubes were buffed with some emery cloth and the axle tubes were also heated due to having the c gussets welded on.

I'd suggest upgrading your ball joints at this time too!

















I welded a bead around the ends just to make sure they stay put.
