Default What C - Gussets to get and where to have the installed (Jersey Shore Area)?!

I have been waiting to pull the trigger on some c gussets, but have been waiting for my stock ball joints to go. I put on 35's last summer and so far, no issues what so ever. However, I plan to keep running this setup and don't want to keep my D44 running straight and true. I ordered synergy ball joints last week so I am ready to purchase the C's next. Any recommendations? One brand better than the other? Evo, Synergy, Artec, they all look very similar and are nearly the exact same price.

My next question is where do I go to have these bad larry's welded up. I live in the Jersey shore area and would like to know if there is anyone local that is tried and trusted. Or maybe you know how to weld em' up and would love some extra beer, green in the wallet, and wants to talk jeeps for a few hours! Post up your recommendations here so a bunch of jeepers can troll the s**t out of the post.

EVOs are popular, but not the best fitting or easiest to weld. Artec makes some nice ones, but anything they make is nice. Welding them really isn't too hard. Join a local Jeep club and get to know people. Someone will eventually offer to help. If done by someone who know what they are doing, it is a really quick project.

Taking it somewhere gets expensive because of the time it takes to pull things apart and put them together. You pay for a lot of labor you can do yourself. I know around me there are a lot of mobile welders and they will come to your house. Just tell them not to work too long around the ball joints and keep them cool.

Any gussets will work well, but I believe the Artec are 1/4" vs. 3/16's on most of the others.

If Sandy didn't drown my welder, I would have done them for you when I'm home 4th of July.

See if you can get ahold of Jack at No Excuses in New Egypt. I haven't talked to him since i moved from NJ in 99 but he always did good work at a very fair price....HTH

Will it still be an issue if I am replacing the ball joints immediately after having the gussets installed? A mobile welder seems like the best route. I can have the truck jacked up, wheels off, etc before the guy even shows up. Smart idea.. Thanks!!!

As for ease of welding, are the Teraflex style gussets easier to weld up than say the Artec style? That being said, I think the Artec ones look much stronger than the teraflex option. (Also you get the bottoms with the Artec for 20$, thats pennies compared to other mods for these Jeeps

Again thanks for the advice!

If replacing ball joints, then they can weld without concern for heat. You'll already have a lot apart, so easiest to just replace them then.

Yeah, there are some talented welders out there that will get it done right. It's a really basic job for someone.

Artec is good stuff. Small price to pay for your C's never bending.

I've done gussets with ball joints in and out. When I did it with them in, they were just fine afterwards. We filled the shop sink with ice water and kept rages on them. Out is easier because you can just worry about your welds.

sent from my work leash

Good to hear and nice to know that they won't have to worry about heat. That was my biggest concern when it came down to choosing a welder. I knew they all could do it, it was just a question of whether or not they would disregard my situation.

Artec it is! Last and final question i promise, leave them bare, paint them black, coat them with something undercoat? Maybe something else I am not mentioning. Thanks again!
