Default Broken Teraflex Long Arm brackets

Has anyone with a Teraflex long arm kit had problems with their control arm brackets breaking? I had one break completely off on me deep down a rather easy trail way up in the mountains. Upon further inspection, the other side is a showing stress fracture in the exact same spot (signs of not brand new). My guess is it stress fractured up the middle which transfered most of the new stress to the weld thus causing that to fail.

I am not a hard wheeler. Never had it down a black diamond trail and I act like there's a egg under the gas pedal (gas is too expensive and I seriously want to avoid breaking down on the trail hours away from help).

As of right now my jeep is dead on the driveway! It's prime time wheeling season!

Thanks JKF.

It has been a few years, but I seem to recall a problem with people ripping the brackets off the frame, and then some type of a re-design I think. I'll see if I can find any of the old threads.

I have just installed that same kit myself and know exactly whats wrong. Those brackets have been flexing like crazy because they are REQUIRED to be fully welded to the frame all the way around every edge. Im surprised ur still alive. Amazed really. This is like finding out u bolt ur tires on with plastic lug nuts kinda scary. The bolt holes on the brackets are there to assist in holding it in place for u to have it aligned properly for welding. If u doubt me, look up teraflex long arm install videos on youtube. Its a 7 part video series just for this kit install. U will freak out too after u realize how long u have driven like that..... U have angels working double overtime guarding u and ur family and friends that have ridden with u.

Yea that just happened to me. Call Tera flex they redesigned that bracket and have a gusset plate for the rear. The new bracket is thicker with gussets. With slots in it to plug weld it better to the frame. They sent me the brackets for free.

Those brackets need to be welded along every edge to prevent a failure like that. Did you contact us on some replacements?

Thanks everyone for the help and replies.

Upon further research, this has happened to others, the exact same thing.

TeraFlex has updated the front brackets to some much beefier brackets. With the new ones and a full perimeter weld, I'll have no doubt of this ever happening again.

And much kudos to TeraFlex for their customer support. I called them today and spoke to Jacob. With 5 minutes they had new brackets and new rear gussets headed my way. This time, I'll take them to a reputable fabrication shop and have them weld all the way around. Although I'm not sure if it'll be possible to weld the top side without removing the body, but a 75% around might be sufficient enough.

I'll post once updated.

Thanks again everyone! Can't wait to get Eden back on the street and trails. Maybe I can talk TeraFlex into sending me some beefy axles to compensate welder costs jk.

Yes these new brackets feel very substantial. Very beefy. Much better than the frame it is welded to.
