Any advice before I install power hoist
My wife got me a Lange power hoist for my hard top for Father's Day. I'm going to install it this weekend and was wondering if anyone had any pointers or recommendations in their experiences with installing these. Thanks!
I installed a hoist lift power hoist yesterday. I moved it 3 times and think about moving it again. Placement, placement , placement.
The way my garage ceiling is, and the entry to my house isn't the best for hanging a top out of the way. Make sure you have the perfect spot for it.

I had a hoist setup at my last home which included tracks to move the hoist all over the garage as well as take my hard top above a storage area above my garage (not just my hard top, anything and I stored most of my camp gear there). It was similar to a loft in a barn. Both the track system and the loft are things I hope to incorporate in my next home if possible.
I've had mine up for several years... I chose to put the hard top over the hood to save walk space (tall people would bump heads on low hanging top.
1. Pull Jeep into garage nose first (ensure your spare can clear the garage door closing)
2. Locate ceiling stud closest to this location (If one is not centered on Jeep, instal cross braces)
3. Mark location for hoist motor (you want the back windo roughly even with the front bumper of Jeep.
4. Install Hoist
5. Back Jeep under Hoist and adjust brackets to ensure that Hard Top stays level with T-Tops mounted on top.
6. Pull Jeep out and return Jeep nose first into garage... Hard top should balance over hood, wasting no walk space in garage.
7. When hard top in on Jeep, the brackets on hoist will NOT sit level. Take a Anti-Freeze Jug (or similar container) and fill with just the right amount of water to balance the bracket when the container is hung from the back hook.
8. Keep Cordless Screwdriver (with correct Torx head) plugged into outlet nearest the Hoist Controler... I can pull my Hard Top completely in under three minutes.
Too easy and very worth it. Every garaged JK should have one of these.
