I Often haul lumber in the jku, so I always lay down a towel to protect the top of tailgate and paint. I was looking at getting a bushwacker tailgate protector but it comes packaged with a hood by deflector for over $100, and I don't need one. Anyone try a DIY solution? I was thinking a thick strip of Berliner but that really won't protect the metal from denting/chopping, etc. thoughts?
