Hey guys,

Is it really normal to have the evap canister sound like a can of marbles when you hit a bump?

So annoying I just wanna rip it out !

There shouldn't be any sound coming from that canister. Fuel could have gotten into it and started breaking down the charcoal. Time for a replacement.

Curious, did it sound at all like it was coming from the axle? Almost like loose parts in the axle?

Originally thought it was clanking front or rear coils.

It was tough to actually tell exactly where from. But as I was underneath banging around on stuff to diagnose , I hit the canister with my hand and it rattled pretty loud like marbles in a plastic can.

At least that's what I think, the noise over bumps is.

However it does have a more metallic sound while driving it.

Are you thinking something in the axle?

No. I've had a clunk sound over bumps for a couple months and can't locate the source of the noise. Thought I'd see if yours was similar. I've literally torn my Jeep apart and removed everything one part at a time. Nothing left to check at this point.

Yeah so damn frustrating. That canister is noisy when you tap it so I'm hoping that's it...especially since its a $46 part

Although I can make my coils clank when I hit those with my fist too so who knows.

I will say I can't hear it at all with the windows up nor feel it so I'm assuming it isn't anything major suspension related.

Gonna get a new evap from o'riellys and report back tomorrow

Can anyone else verify by tapping their evap canister that it does or doesn't rattle like there's something inside like rocks or marbles.....I'm getting mixed answers from the dealers I called to ask about a replacement

It's definitely coming from the little white end piece ( ESIM module). When I take it off no noise from the black canister.

Looks like a little cylinder is sliding back and forth inside the module making the noise

Thanks

One way to confirm. Take it off and make sure. It's a simple removal.

Will I throw any codes or have to have any codes cleared when I put it back on?
