Default 3.21 and 285/70-16

Have a 2014 jk unlimited with 285 70 17 duratracs. Ratio is 3.21. Is this bad?

Manual or Automatic? I have a 2012 six speed manual with 3.21s, and 315/70R-17 Duratracs. I will get it geared when I can get electric lockers for both ends at the same time. Normal driving I get about 17-18mpg. People will say they can't live with it, but I'm not having any issues. I do quite a bit of off roading also.

I am running 295/70/17 Cooper STT discoverers on 3:21 with the 6 speed, no issues except gas mileage.

depends on where you drive. I live in Montana where you are either going up hill or down when driving on the highway and I had a 2013 jku with 3.21's and automatic and I put 285/75-16's on and it was never happy when trying to drive 70mph it was always hunting to be in the right gear.

I had 3.73 gears and an automatic on 32" tires and hated it so I changed to 4.56. With 32s it is about perfect, and it will still be alright on 33s.

Some folks are OK with a rig that lugs in top gear unless its going downhill, but I'm not one of them. With a standard it is hard on the clutch, and with an automatic the torque converter can easily throw the dreaded hot transmission oil warning.

I like the engine to run about 1900-2000 at 60mph. That's where my JK runs now, and its also where my two Ford trucks and Honda CRV run. I don't get these factory setups that can't accelerate in top gear.

I do have one rig that runs only 1600 RPM on the highway, but its a 9 liter turbo Cummins with 1250 ft/lb of torque at just 1300. It pulls a 20 ton load with ease.

I'm running 315/70-17 with 3.21's and an auto with the same motor as you. I honestly have zero issue with it. I also have a Diablosport tuner though. I've never ran without the tuner so I can't compare to stock.

Sure it could be better, but I don't plan on changing my gears. I average between 16-18 mpg...

I'm running a 275/70R18 (33) with a 6 speed and 3.21 gears. It's a dog in 6th gear, but i've not had any issues offroad. i will say, a gear swap is on the menu. I'm getting 17-18 in town and 20 hwy.

I have 285/75-16 Cooper ATPs on my 13 with 3.21s for about a month now. I dont think its horrible, but by no means is it ideal. I notice that 5th rarely gets used at all.
