Default Linex bushwacker fenders

Last year I was at the closest linex place to me and ask if I could get my factory non painted fender flares done. The owner said he could not line x synthetic plastic. But he never gave me any other option. I know that the painted fenders could be done. Is this the same rule for bushwacker fenders. Do they need to be primed with a gel coat first. Or can they be line-x'd.

Linex cannot adhere well to plastic. For one because it is not porous material and therefore the product doesn't have anything to grab onto, and second, I think that the product has to be at an extremely high temperature to liquify, and therefore could melt the plastic upon contact, I would think.

I was talking to a representative and he said if you sand them with 50 or 60 grit, it will have a good mechanical bond but no chemical bond. They do hold up but they won't give it any warranty.

I had fender flares on my truck covered with Line-X, but they had to encompass the entire flare....meaning take the flares off, spray them and put them back on. Otherwise, it won't hold.

I had a set of Bushwacker flares linexd on my TJ. They were a scratched up set I bought for cheap so I figured I would try. Dropped them off by an offroad shop that dose linex and picked them up a few days later. they did sand them with coarse grit and only linexd the outer part of the fender flare.
They held up great, we would often ride in very thick wooded areas and never had a problem. I would recommend it. I'm thinking about having my Commando Green Flares done.
