Default rk 3 link rear with adjustable lower short arms

hey guys/girls

Im pretty tempted right now to go to a 3 link rear setup.

but i already have synergy adjustable short arms on all 8 arms. from what i gather, going 3 link wont give me more flex as that is shock length and bump stops, but at the same amount of flex, the car's body should sit more level right? due to less binding?

i really would love a long arm setup but i don't know if i can justify it since i already have the adjustable short arms. will there be a big difference in ride quality of the short arm vs long arm in the 3 link rears? also i cant seem to find a picture of where the rock krawler chassis side mount goes between the frame. i have an extra fuel tank in mine which i need to confirm will clear. anyone know where i can find one? in particular for the 3 link short arm rear?

also if i go the short arm 3 link kit, and decide to go long arm rear lowers in the future, will this render my upper 3rd link redundant and i'll need a whole new kit? or could i still use the short arm upper 3rd link?

cheers

I don't see any benefit to doing a short arm 3 link. I would keep the 4 link set up you have now until you are ready to move to a long arm set up and in that case I would have to look at your total set up before going with a 3 link rear. The rear 3 link is far from perfect and has a couple of important limitations that need to be looked at.

If you did a 3 link short arm you would be doing a new upper bracket.

ok. i know there's limitations with a 3 link. however everything has it's limitations. ideally i'd go a 4 link triangulated setup and lose the track bar but im definitely not going to move my tanks. are there any other bolt or weld on rear triangulated setups that have the chassis mounts toward the rear of the car without costing a fortune. i also like the idea of the 3 link due to it being a truss for the rear diff as well that i plan on doing anyway

Asmmns and I believe Sneck on the forums runs the rear mid arm three link. Google for more info.

RK uses a bridge not a truss, it is not made to strengthen the axle.

hmm. i thought it was just a poorly designed truss. i would consider the artec one. but you have me potentially thinking otherwise dirtman. sometimes i wish you would just recommend a product, why and why not, with brand names and product numbers HAHA

Artec works with RK. You would need to truss but run the Artec 3 link bracket Also

Its hard to recommend specific products online when you are getting into the more custom set ups with not knowing your rig and how you drive.

yeah fair enough. being in south east australia rock crawling is very limited. do get some big steps up tracks but nothing like most of you guys do. but lots of off camber situations when you've got a 400 meter drop off a cliff on one side so would like something that flexes well to keep the body as flat as possible. ive currently got a 4" syngery lift with all 8 synergy adjustable arms and fox remote res shocks, i think theyre about 10.5" travel and running 37" pro comps. at the moment im pretty happy with the ride in the front since putting the adjustable arms in and returning to factoryish caster, but the rear still rides hard. would like to just go long arm in the rear, potentially 3 link at that or a triangulated setup and save some cash and potentially do the front at another stage
