Default 2014 tpm on older jeep

I just bought 18" wheels from a 2014 Sahara and put them on my stock 2011 sport. I am assuming the tpm sensors from the new Sahara are not going to be read by the computer? I have read about older wheels on the 2013 and newer vehicles not working, is it the same my way too? I don't want to take the sensors out of my old wheels because I will be putting them back on in the winter.

Your TPMS won't recognize the sensors that came off the 2014. It just doesn't work. Sorry.

You are correct. 14 senor will not work on a 11. Bc they are sending a different frequency. I think it was 2012 when they changed the frequency of the senor. Someone else might correct me if I'm wrong.

So my only option is ignore, disable, or buy older sensors to put in the '14 wheels. Hmmm...which option is the best?

Another option is to switch the sensors from your old wheels to the new ones. I too have a 2011 Wrangler sport which I switch to the 17 inch alloys with new Goodyear Dura track tires. The tire pressure sensors easily unbolt from the stem – any tire shop can do the swap. FYI the 2011 uses sensors that transmit at 315mhz. I believe that the 2013 and newer use 433mhz sensors.

I have 3 barely used (less than 6 months) TPMS sensors from my 2008 Jeep that I'd sell for cheap. If interested, PM me.

You can buy brand new sensors for your 2011.

If you got to a tire shop, they can change the frequency on the new TPMS sensors. Its a neat little device and runs about $120 to do it up here. Canadian funds.
