question about cutting stock fenders.
i'm thinking about cutting my fenders. i've watch a few youtube vids on how to do it. but in the vid the fender seems flimsey after being cut, i drive alot on the highway and worried about them flapping around. can someone who drives on the highway alot tell me how they are?
Mine will flutter ever so slightly - and not all the time. I always planned on putting someplace Velcro or something between the fender support and the underside of the fender. Just hasn't bothered me enough to do it.
Oh, I attached mine to the support, so that's probably why I don't get any flutter.
I ditched my stock cut flares for that exact reason. At highway speeds I was getting flutter and it was actually starting to rub through the paint. I had the inner fender supports cut down and still got the flutter. If I was to do it again I think that I would have found a way to attach the flare to the support. Like double sided tape or something.

When i cut mine i added a motorcycle sidemarker light to replace my stock sidemarker and i screwed it right on top of the fender which also screwed through the support to hold it all together for the back of the flare near ur door its held on by metal tabs that go through the body and flex outward to hold it in place just get behind it and bend the tabs out more from the inside, it will make it tighter to the body and that did it for me their all good and sturdy
And i didnt cut the front of mine i like how it sits with my front bumper so for the front part of them i left a skinny piece of support sticking out about halfway right in the front and then glued one of those zip tie anchor things to the underside of the flare and then zip tied it to the piece of support i left
