HELP! Im considering 33 12.5 15's
Considering 33 12.5 15's on my 2010 Dr stock jeep. Do I need to make mods, any words of advice, will they kill my gas mileage? I'm going for all terrains. Advice as in good tires and rims for mostly highway and city. Thanks!
For 15" rims, you want a low enough backspace that the rims will clear the calipers. No more than a 4.0", but a 3.75" or lower would be better. DiscountTireDirect has a list of 15" wheels that they gaurantee will fit, that might be a good place to start looking. (a quick search should find the thread where these rims are listed, or call them)
Don't get 15". I was guaranteed a wheel I would get would clear. And it had 3.75" of backspacing. It was steel procomp wheel. It still rubbed and shaved the calipers. Only the front though.
Safest is to just stay away from 15" wheels. There's never a guarantee with them

I love my 33x12.5x15 Duratracs!
I took a chance with some Ion Alloys. Clears the calipers without any issues.
Disclosure: I have a 2.5" coil lift. You can probably do this without the lift as long as you have proper backspacing. The BS on the Ion Alloys is a bit extreme - probably around 3.7". You might need to trim fenders for full stuff without a lift.

This is the jeep after I removed the bumpstops that came with the kit. I'll put them back in if I ever go with 35's and decide to keep the fenders stock. This is also with proper length Bilstein 5100's.
