Default 2012 or newer with a detroit?

Who all is running a Detroit locker or Yukon grizzly locker in the rear of a 2012 or newer jk? Any issues? I remember reading something about guys having issues with it working properly with the esp/bld, but can't remember where I saw that. I would think you would be able to kill the esp and not have an issue, but I'm not sure.

I would not expect it (BLD) to take issue, as it monitors axle speeds left to right and tries to equal them to the slower of the two (the one with traction). So by locking, the BLD should become very happy and for all intents and purposes... fall asleep from boredom.

I assume you don't drive it on the road in the eastern winters? That would be unsafe.

Why not just spend the extra $200 and get an e-locker?

I currently have an arb, which has been leaking since may. 2 garages 3 times in and $400 in "repairs" later it's still leaking. Found out what is actually causing the leak in July. I've been waiting on parts that no one seems to have in stock since then.

It isn't my daily driver anymore as I have a company van for work. I have a friend that lives in Canada that has a Detroit in the rear and has no issues or complaints about safety or drivability. It isn't his DD either.

I'm looking to ditch the arb and gain the simplicity of an auto locker, spending $1000 for a locker that takes months to get minor parts for and basically go the entire summer without a functioning locker isn't leaving me very satisfied.

This is one of the first threads I remember seeing on it. I haven't been following the issue much lately so am not sure if there is a workaround, but think I saw something about using a programmer to change the ratio helped?

Why would this be unsafe ?
When turning on slick roads, front autolockers tend to push straight instead of turning. And rear autolockers try to slide/skid instead of turning. It is a matter of getting used to the handling and personal preference, but for many people, they are better off with a limited or selectable in those conditions.

Everyone has opinions on this issue. I ran Detroit Lockers in both ends of my Scout for 10 years on the street year around with no issues. I knew what it would do when slick & I would just put the front in when I really needed the traction on icy roads. I would do it if multiple drivers were involved.

I have read several threads on the auto lockers triggering dash lights do to wheel speed issues. It might be an expensive experiment!!

I've read several issues with the ARB. I thought those things were bullet proof and trouble free overall? Seems most of the shops choose them on their rigs. What a pain though not to be able to get parts. I think sometimes companies forget about the end user when parts fail or wear out.

Any issues you are having with your ARB is caused by improper installation. When you say "leaks" are you talking about air line leaks? The air lines and parts are readily available and easy to repair. I carry spares with me for the trail but have never had an issue. The ARB itself cannot leak. An axle seal or differential gasket can which has nothing to do with the ARB. Properly installed, you will be way happier with an ARB over a Detroit locker (I have experience with both). JMO

The locker itself most certainly can leak. The issue isn't an air line. This thread isn't about arb's or my issue with it leaking. Parts are on order. I'm not looking for opinions on what anyone thinks I will be happy with. I am simply looking for whether or not I will have issues with the computer if I install an auto locker in the rear axle of a 2012 jk.
