New jeep owner " question on gear change"
I just bought a 1995 jeep wrangler 2.5l
I think it has a 2" susp lift.... How do I know? What do I look for and measure to figure that out?
It's sitting on 32x11.5 BFg all terrains
I know a gear change will help me but what gear ratio would I need?
Problem is I have a ranch 2 1/2 hours away with lots of big hills on the freeway to get there and I drove this thing locally up a modest hill on a paved road and wow got up to 55mph and then had to down shift to fourth as the power was just gone I could only go about 45mph and some times had to got to third gear to do that. I would like to be able to go 55/60 mph.... And still get on the ranch and have some fun...
Help me I'm a car guy that knows nothing about jeeps and would welcome any and all advice.

So you have a yj with the 4 banger in it and 33's. We would need to know what gears are in the axles (should be a tag on the diff cover) and what transmission you have.
You would also have a better chance of answers on a yj forum as this is a JK 2007-2015 model years forum.

This is a 'JK' forum, so the majority of the information you see here may be of absolutely no use to you with a YJ. You can try going down to the TJ/YJ area, but would probably have more luck on a YJ forum.
