Hesco Supercharger Question
Just bought a 07 JKU with a Hesco supercharger kit. The jeep obviously has more power than stock and I love it. My question is when I take off I have to be careful so that it doesn't redline. It doesn't seem to shift quick enough to keep it from getting in the red. Are there tuners out there that would help make it shift quicker and overall run better? Also at idle it whines. Is that normal? I know when you hit the gas it should but didn't know about at idle. Any help on this Supercharger would be great. This is the first one I have had and want to get the most out of it. My jeep has a 6 inch lift, 35" tires and a magnaflow exhaust with AIrRaid CAI.
i dont have any experience with supercharged jeeps, but i do come from a background of supercharged mustangs. Centrifugal chargers (like you have) should "whistle" at idle. "Roots" type charges wine under load (those are the ones that sit over the top of the intake. As for redlining (i assume its when you romp on it in first gear from a stop), it should be a simple programming fix (best done on a dyno by a reputable shop) or you could also check your transmission fluid (might be low or old) and not able to build up enough pressure to get you to the next gear. Im going with my gut saying its a programming fix though. When you go into wide open throttle, the computer see it and goes into a closed loop program (meaning it doesnt care what any sensor is saying or doing and begins to go off of a chart that its programmed to follow). Its not looking at the fact that its revving up faster than normal because of that charger sitting on it. The programming will change it to shift out earlier and more smooth. I could be totally wrong here, but at least its a place to start and look in to. Like i said, im no guru on super charged jeeps, and its been years since i played with charged anything.
