Has anyone added a take off rubi electronic swaybar disco system to the standard JK? IF so, how well did it work and what mods to the electric was needed. Thinking its a -12v motor so wiring could be relatively simple.

I haven't personally done it, but I know others have. In fact, I know Quadratec sells the Rubicon sway bar and the OEM dash panel for the switch. Based on their instructions you'll have to go to the dealership to have it activated if you want it setup just like the factory with the light on the dash cluster. Although I'd bet you could probably just wire it yourself through a toggle switch and a relay.

Yes... I did about 4 years ago...
I ended up splicing it into my harness on the Jeep. Bought a new harness... figured out where the harness connect... then merged them. It was easier than taking out the old harness and replacing it with the new one. Once I got that done... I had to go to the dealer to have them flash the computer in order to make it work. Once it was flashed... Worked like it was supposed to ever since.

According to the AEV Procal manual, the Procal will enable this feature on non-Rubicon models.

I would do a dual rate like the teraflex, it is not a push button from inside but is pretty simple. I know someone also makes an air activated sway bar disconnect as well. The factory set up is expensive and is prone to failure in wet areas.

I had to take my factory smart-bar apart and clean out water & rust, then grease it up when it didn't work last week. I wasn't very difficult to do. But I would use something else if it wasn't already on a Rubicon from the factory.

+1 on the dual rate, my rubi disco failed once under warranty, works now but I have also broken links from the links flipping and seen it happen to others as well. now i just use it to make it easier to disco my teraflex sway bars

How much do you wheel that it is worth the cost and potential failures vs. the 30 seconds it takes for quick disconnects? I'm usually reconnected faster than the guy in the Rubi driving around waiting for the electric motor to reconnect. It's not immediate.

If you do go that route, make darn sure your sway bar links are long enough or you'll flip them and have a big mess. And be sure to have a skid to protect it.
