Dont have a picture of my buddies Jeep but he has the hood mount. He likes it but to me doesn't seem like the best place to put it. Only reason why i say that is if you actually care about the paint of you Jeep then you are taking the chance of possibly hitting the hi-lift on your hood or side of the Jeep. For a guy like me i have to stand on the tire just to be able to reach over and get a good grab on it. Then having to try and let the jack down or jump off the tire with the jack in hand. Not the greatest idea if your on the trail. Im also only 5'6 lol. You are also leaving it vulnerable to be stolen. Yes you can buy locks and such but still taking the chance sense its visible to the thief. Theres way to mount on the inside of the Jeep so its not visible to others so could help with the theft issue.

Mounting it inside the jeep is not an option, I need the room as I sleep in there when camping on the mountain alone. Maybe next year I will get my roof rack and it will be mounted there. Just lookin at other options for now. thanks

Dont rule out mounting it in the jeep just yet. JEEP SWAG has a system that mounts it up high, right between the roll bars, just behind the sound bar. Take a look at it. Its called the Dave,, a guy named dave engineered it.

Have a look at Mark Doiron's Jeep. His set up is pretty sweet.

Hey just a quick question on the set up, will it fit with the hard top? Will it fit with the trektop NX and last will it fit with safari straps?

Sorry to not answer the original question, but definitely wanted to know the answer to this

Just a comment. If I were mounting a high lift in the tub I would want the roll bar between me and it in case of a head on crash. Last thing I would want would be something that large and heavy becoming a projectile at head level. Carry on.

Jeep Swag Stealth Hi-Lift Mount (Dominion Offroad) sounds like a solution.

^ Plenty of room for camping (or anything else for that matter). Securely mounted with four 1/2" bolts to the cage then another two 1/2" and one 3/8" bolt to the mount.
