Hi guys.. Bought my 2 door sport brand new in October 2011. 23k miles on it now. It was burning 2 quarts of oil every 1k miles so after a Small fight and a few trips they did oil tests and finally decided to put a new short block in it a couple months of back and forth trips and then keeping it. It has been in the shop for a total of nearly 3 months (not all consecutive). After 200 miles on the new motor it's already ticking and the starter was locked up and lord knows why.. I have a bad feeling it will just keep getting worse and worse and knowing my warranty is almost out I can't afford to pay for this much work out of pocket. Anyone know how I can get out of it and get more money than just trading it in? It's modded but I plan on taking all my mods off wen I get rid of it. Any legal advice? I know I'm missing a lot of info but I can answer it if it will help you give advice.

I had a lot of problems with my 08 had to get a lawyer had never done that before and it was no fun. After all that got to keep my jeep and the lifetime warranty. Brought it into the hanger and worked on it all winter put in some mods and found the problem with the electrical system they riveted into a wire that was shorting out my radio and did a bad repair on the harness by the radio you can try to call jeep at 1866-275-1420 and open up a case. Mine took over a year so if you can't wait that long you're better off getting rid of it I know I'll never buy another Chrysler product again even though I love my Jeep.

I would return it back to stock anyways right now and then start fighting to get your issues fixed. As soon as fixed I'd get rid of it.

Is this the only issue you've had with a Chrysler product?

. With a Chrysler product that was still under warranty and they could never fix it and had multiple problems yes. It was not so much the mechanical issues with their product it was the lack of customer service lack of training with there technicians the dealership I was going to was pretty good and fully admitted there was a problem but Chrysler corporate refuse to take any responsibility for it. Sorry to hijack the thread

I was going through a drivethrough one day in my 2007 JKUR and the windows would not go down. They went up but not down. I had to open the door, get my stuff, pull over, and "reboot" the jeep (cycle the ignition) to get it to work again. That's the only time that happened, but I'll never forget it. It contributed greatly to my new 2015 JKR being manual window, manual lock, manual transmission, etc. I basically have a base 2 door jeep with the rubicon package and tow hitch. So far it's less wiring and hopefully less problems in the long run.

To the original poster, I used to be more attached to cars and would be weary of anything with problems. I've had half a dozen fords, a couple subarus, and four toyotas that gave me no problems at all. My last JK, the 2007 JKUR was traded due to oil consumption at 50,000 miles for fear of it getting worse. Since then I've pulled motors, built tube chassis, and otherwise gotten my hands dirty enough that I wouldn't feel like it was the end of the world. I had to learn through quite a bit of pain breaking things racing and fabricating, though. Good luck with your issues. My experience with manufacturers' warranties and anecdotal stories on the forums have given me a much dimmer view of all them in the last couple years.

I know you're usually better off fixing it yourself then having it warrantied have got my Jeep back with part they didn't put back together on the passenger floorboard or they break more things to try to fix something else. Especially all the plastic snap together crap they like to use

My Grandfather used to say that about half of all problems with any machine were caused by previous people working on it -- But the odds are better if it's yours and you're good with machines. Another saying of his was that an expert is the person who has the repair manual.

Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. Check it out, you need to start this process before your warranty runs out. It helped me get my roof leak repaired correctly after 7 attempts by the dealer.
