Default Insurance hard or soft top difference

I have been trying to convince my dad to let me get a soft top for the jeep. Does anyone know if an insurance company would raise the rate because of safety? I guess way i should ask is there much of a difference in safety between a hard or soft top? I know that the soft top isn't as secure as the hard top so i know that could be a factor in the insurance quote. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

In Illinois and Indiana there is no difference in insurance price.

Soft top is the best thing ever in summer, but definitely keeping my hardtop for winter so I can scrape off ice and use my defroster!

Been selling insurance for State Farm for 14 years. No difference in CO, and I'd be seriously surprised if it was more anywhere else.

I'd imagine they don't look at things like that. Whenever you get a quote for insurance they ask you about the vehicles features, right? All of those are generally safety features like ABS, traction control, security systems, etc. I've never once been asked about whether it was a convertible or had a rag top or not.

You can't rent a trailer at U Haul with a soft top. Who knows why

Jeep Wranglers are considered convertibles, regardless of which top you buy.
