Default JK lift local advice Minnesota

Hi Folks

Just purchased a new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and would like to install a 2-3 inch lift. I would like to meet with someone from the Twin Cities area that has a similar setup for advice and new owner tips.

I have searched various websites and there are many kits out there and lot of opinions. What are the top 3 lift kits installed.

Based on lack of 1st hand knowledge, have started to focus on AEV lift kits based on more information technical on their website.

I now have a AEV 3.5" RS lift on mine. Previously had a Teraflex 2.5" coil lift with bilstien 5100 and geometry correction brackets. I can tell you first hand that the AEV lift handle 100 times better then the teraflex lift did. Granted it is a way more expensive and way more of a complete kit. If you aren't rock crawling, and driving it on the road daily I highly recommend any of the AEV lift kits

This Jeep will spend most of its life on the pavement. I live on a road that is not snow plowed in the winter by the City or County. We have one neighbor with a plow and Bobcat, but sometimes he can't clear the road before I need to leave for work. Last winter my old jeep liberty got stuck twice and more ground clearance would have made a difference.

I have an emergency response job and I need to be able to respond in any weather.

Yeah I leave in the middle of the night for work myself often times being at work at midnight. (Truck driver) I'm sitting on 35's with the 3.5" lift. I think it's the perfect combo for road and off road. I think about 37s all the time but that changes a lot

If you haven't found them already, read the two threads stuck right to the top of this modified area - Faq's and Thoughts on Lifts. There is a lot of good information in them, though some of the stuff in the faq's could use some updating.

AEV will probably be a good choice for you. Relatively complete kits that handle well onroad.

Whichever mfg you go with, be sure to get a handle on what all of the various components do, and what issues can be caused by lifting. (Low caster, roll center, driveshaft angles, short links, short brake lines, etc). A lot of the components are used to fix angles that were messed up from the lift, and are wanted for onroad handling, not offroad performance.

AEV, Rock Krawler, Teraflex, MetalCloak, Rancho - all seem to be fairly popular here.

Beat me to that, I will second what duluthjk said. There is a event coming up in the Twin Cities soon check it out should be a lot of nice jeeps there.
