Default steering shake

Installed a 2.5 inch spacer lift on my 2014 JKU 35's and rims. Have been experiencing a little shake in my steering between 40 to 50 mph. Just had the tires road force balanced with no luck. Any ideas????

Did you tighten all parts and torque accordingly?

Hear, Hear @catahoula and at this point would need to seek an alternate shop for a second opinion on the balancing.. I've heard tire shops hate balancing larger tires..

However, it's unclear as to how old your jeep is without looking at your profile and what type of lift etc one has installed on the jeep.. Lastly, it may benefit one to search the forum for "Shimmy" or "Death Wobble" and when one asks me what is the most common issue with the jeep wrangler 07- current.. I'd have to say the shimmy/wobble.. I've heard issues reported as early as 34K miles of drag links, tie rods, track bars and even ball joints failing..

In essence, we are in the same boat you are, so it would be wise to systematically create or follow a shimmy checklist.. starting with removal of the retaining clips, tire balance (second opinion) and alignment check.. thou geared more towards having someone inspect for worn components.

At the end of the week, we'll be starting our own stage 1 steering component replacements and a few other options. I may have something to post at that time or next week based on our findings.

Did you loosen up everything that has a rubber bushing, shake the vehicle, and retorque everything back to factory spec's?

^^^ This is very likely the issue. Either the bolts aren't torqued to spec or they were torqued with the suspension drooped. Or worse yet, the bolts were never loosened.

If that doesn't work, rotate the tires.

Me and my brother have the same issue. Only between 45 and 55mph. Slower or faster doesn't exist. Loosened and retightened everything. Balljoints have zero play. Just seen in jp mag where they had a Rubi that did the same thing. They couldn't find problem and neither could (I think it was) off road evolutions. They ended up putting a fox ats stab on it cause it is valved for both directions meaning push and pull. I'm about at the same place but don't wanna spend 400 on a bandaid

I don't get why this is such a common issue. I have the same shimmy at the same speed - even had it my old jeep although not as bad.

What tires? I'm running duratracs and this is a common issue with them. I have read a lot on this since I had a Shimmy from 44-52 mph and finally had them match mounted. No more issues. Some tires are just harder to balance than others.

I have seen a couple examples where people could not find the issue and every checked out. It was finally diagnosed as new tires that were bad. Can't recall why they balance fine, but caused an issue. Maybe out of round, so they balance, but cause the shake at higher speeds.
