Default Cold Air Intakes

Anybody running a CAI? I was thinking about getting one for my 08 JKU. Any recommendations, pros, and cons about a CAI?

- i love to drive through big puddles. Will it be a problem?

You can just give me the couple hundred bucks instead. It would be a better investment.

That's what the general consensus is, but I had an AIRAID, and could've sworn my mileage was better.

Just didn't really care for the sound.

Don't waste your money.

If your looking for performance, don't bother.

If you like splashing through deep water, you risk hydrolocking(destroying) your engine.

Does it really help mpg? That's what I've been hearing anyways. How much was your intake?

How likely is it to hydrolock the engine? That was one of the reasons i second thought the intake.

Very clean look! I want something with a nice aggressive grunt without an exhaust. What brand is that & how much?

My second Jeep mod (after the Warn Winch) was an Airaid CAI. Not much performance or MPG increase, but it really opened up the exhaust note. Actually made the former V6 sound pretty good. Yep, that was about it.

First thing I do to EVERY vehicle I've ever owned is a K&N drop in air filter, can't go wrong. Plus on my jeep I run a snorkel but don't forget to plug the holes in the bottom of the factory air box.
