Default Rubi rear 44 locker in sahara 44?

Hey guys I have a 2011 Sahara and wanted to see if a locker from a Rubicon rear dana 44 would fit in my Sahara's rear 44. And if not is it possible to make it fit. Im asking because I already have the locker, and don't want to buy an arg lock specific to the Sahara if I don't need to. Thanks

Should work fine. The sahara is a trim package, the dana 44 is the same with or without locker.

My Bad... Sorry for the mis information... Looks like there are several differences..

The above is not really correct. Axle shafts are not the same, so you'd need new shafts. I believe it would require an install kit. It needs to be plumbed. And after all that, you have the weakest locker money can buy.

It would be cheaper to buy an axle off a Rubi and sell yours.

I understand that the shafts have a different spline count. But te reason I asked was because I was told that the rubicon 44 housing has a larger diameter cradle for the carrier bearings then the sahara and that it would not fit correctly.

There was a thread five or six years ago about this. By the end of a very long and involved process to get the rubi locker to fit in the non-rubi housing, the comment was made that it would have been cheaper and a whole lot easier if he had just gone with a standard locker.

Sell it and buy an arb or eaton e-locker if you want a selectable.

Many don't realize there are many differences in the regular D44 and the Rubicon D44. You mentioned the difference in the cradle for the carrier. Attached is information that lists some of the differences. One of which is that the D44 JK non Rubin rear has 2 spiders and the D44 JK Rubicon has 4 spiders.

Hope this helps
