Default How good are rubicon shocks?

I ask because I have a set of Bilstein 5100s setting in my garage with 60,000 miles on them.

I'm wondering if shock extensions with the new shocks are a better option than the few year old bilsteins from my last lift.

I swapped my worn stock shocks on my Sahara for pretty new rubicon and I thought it was a noticeable positive difference. I think if you have the bilsteins available ( if you liked them) I would put those on the jeep until they wear out. And keep the others as a backup.

I picked up a set with 20,000kms off Kajiji to hold me over for now. Since put 20,000km on them.

They improved my ride from my tired original Sahara shocks, not a overly stiff ride either and I'm happy with them.

If I recall the rears were about an inch longer fully extended.

Can't beat 20 bucks a piece, plus a can of rattle can yellow 8 bucks ( personal choice yellow looked better under a rescue green JKU)

They ride great compared to the stock sport shocks. Much better off-road too.

My JKUR has a luxury ride to it in all conditions so far, the shocks and coils do what they are supposed to do with no bone jarring.

Nothing wrong with stock Rubi shocks. 179,000 km so far still good. Not driving on marshmallows either.

I used them for 30k miles on my JK. They are very stiff on street but fine on dirt. Since I don't do much off roading they are the last shock I would choose. I upgraded to the rancho 9000xl.

I swapped out my Sahara shocks for Rubicon shocks at 80K and couldn't really feel any noticeable difference on the street for what its worth. Before I installed them it was hard to find the difference between them to be honest. Apparently they are valved differently but I have not seen any concrete evidence of this.

I swapped Sport shocks for new Rubicon shocks, then changed again to 5100s. I would not go back on either of those swaps.

The mileage on your 5100s could be a factor.

The 5100s have more travel than a stock shock with extensions.

I would stick with the 5100s. I switched from rubi to 5100 and I like the 5100 way more
