There seems to be a problem with my heating unit or something.
When using it, it'll blow out cold air through the vents until I'm in gear and floor it; then the air will get hot, which will eventually become cold again after a few minutes.
Could it be the thermostat?

 

No most likely low on antifreeze. Check the radiator.
