Rock Krawler Max Travel vs. X-Factor
So, the time has come for me to get a full suspension lift for my 2014 2 door JK.
I am set on Rock Krawler - there is no debate on this, I will not change my mind.
But I am wavering between the 2.5" X-Factor and the Max Travel. The key difference is the X-Factor includes a rear adjustable track bar and upper adjustable arms.
I am upgrading my 33" tires to 35" this week and currently have no plans on going bigger - but I said the same thing about my 33's
Let's assume for the sake of argument that I won't go past 35" tires.
Questions for the lift gurus:
1. Does having a rear adjustable track bar make a difference in handling? Or does it only come into play in higher lifts.
2. Does having upper adjustable control arms add any additional flex to the suspension? They do push the rear axle back an inch, but like I said, no 37s for me.
I can always add them later, but it's a $500 upgrade to do it now vs. $700+ later. If the difference in flex is minimal, then I can put this off to another time.
Thanks!

Go X factor. If you go max travel you will have to replace a set of lower control arms because the max travel arms are not compatible with the X factor uppers. You could go max and try to sell the LCAs later but you know you won't get near what you paid for them. The rear adj track at is worth it as well. I had to readjust mine after wheeling because my flange on rear DS started rubbing my gas tank skid. Wouldn't have been able to fix that without the adj track bar.
Pay now, save later.
Besides. The X factor is a very comfy DD with amazing off-road capabilities.

OK. This all makes a ton of sense. I think the X-Factor is the way to go. At least if (or when) I go to 37s, I'll be in a better position. But I wouldn't do that until I upgrade my front axle (either a D44 or truss my D30).

Mattyk said it well, to add the other components later would require a new set of rear lowers. Definitely do-able but If thats your ultimate goal it may be easier to do it all up front for you.

Help me answer another related question. With this lift on my 2 door, with Bilstein 5100 shocks, 35" tires and Bushwacker flat fenders, what size bump stops (if any) will I need?

Always good to hear it from the manufacturer. I'm convinced the X-Factor is the right lift for me.

We offer a package deal on the Rock Krawler systems that take all of the guess work out of things if you're interested.
