Need help - strong wheel shake
Ok I've through all the bolts in the front end and I can find nothing out of sorts from a torque perspective. A few basic validations for me since I'm new to suspensions still. Should the tie rod be able to move (Yes hence the ends) and should the Drag link be able to move (Yes hence the bearings on the ends).
So why I'm trying to troubleshoot and what you may ask. Today and yesterday if I hit a pot hole or any kind of hole in the road I feel a good vibration throughout the steering wheel. very scary since it was about 2 1/2 months ago I had the DW. I checked last night the tire pressure after the torque of the bolts and for some reason over the last week it has gone from 34lbs to 39.5 lbs. Probablly from the huge change in temps. 15 degree weather a week ago to today's 60 degree. I brought them back down to 36 knowing when it get's cold this wekend they will more than likely loose some of the pressure.
Toady driving home the jeep steering wheel kept shaking everytime I hit anything in the road. Until in a slight corner at aroudn 25 MPH the steering wheel was shaking violently and I had to come to a stop to stop the shaking. Ok is that DW. At 25 mph I couldn't even keep in the lane and ended up half in the other lane. Well I'm not sure what to check at this point without doing a tear down of everything and lookign for play somewhere. Any idea's on where to start. All welds are still in place and look reall good. I could not find any cracks in the metal is it possiblly the Steering stabilizer or a shock gone bad? Turning seems to have gotten tough to do over the last week or so and maybe I've done something due to frost heaves that are all up and down my 1 1/2 mile lake road.
WOL I could use some advice on this as this is looking like an allnighter because I need the DD tomorrow. If not respolved I guess Cough Cough but I do not stay out unless I'm broken...

by the way it's near impossible to turn the wheel without running the engine. Usually turning the key to on I can turn the wheels in dirt. At least I can on my wifes car with power steering.

take a hard look at the steering stabilizer. mine is worn out after only 5000 miles. id check that first. dw is pretty brutal you will know if you have it. that can be caused by the track bar (axle shifting too far to one side) or if the jeep is outta alignment. good luck!
I took mine off and I'm not sure how to test? what would I do? I have the wimmpy one not the rubicon one.
I had dw big time 2 1/2 months ago but found out several install issues by the mechanic. Over torqued bolts, rear link partially installed one side on inside and other side on outside. Once I fixed this and had my tires road force balanced all was good. I live on a really bad road and I'm thinking after 1 1/2 years of daily travel something is going. SS is my guess as the shocks all seem fine. I'm wondering about the bearings. I just finished tightening all the bolts all over again. First I lossened all of them and re-tightened them to torque specs. Taking the test run in about 10 minutes and I'll be back if not resolved. once loosening the bolt on the track bar in the front I noticed It wiggled up and down so I'm thinking somethings not good with that even if it's loose. Not sure there should be play if the bolt is loosened? thoughts?

so did i. first sign is oil leaking from the rod end. you can also compress it like a shock. mine was extremely easy to push and offered no resistance. im not sure if theres any other way to tell besides that
I'll take it back off in a little bit and let you know. I do think there is oil residue built up on the end of the rod near the bushing where it bolts on. Just thought it was road grime.

could be but i had the oil leaking about 1/4 way down the ss. wish i had taken a pic to show you. have you measured from inside of tire to common point on your frame to make sure your axle didnt shift too far?
