Default Winch Question Warn/Superwinch?

I'm sure I will get a lot of differing opinions on this, but I am specifically looking at 2 winches. The first is the Superwinch EPi9.0 for $688, but I recently found a deal on a Warn XD9000i for $750. Is it worth spending the $60 to get the Warn?

I'd get the Superwinch...but that's just me. Some will say go with Warn for piece of mind. Either way, I don't think it will make a difference wich one you take. I have friends that swear by Superwinch and some that do for Warn. You can't really go wrong with either one IMO.

Also, you may want to check this article out on winches:

Default Seen that

Yeah, I have read that before and it really didn't help me decide much either. Good article though. It made me stay away from some other cheap brands.

I'd get the Superwinch unless you have an aftermarket bumper that doesn't support it. A few of my friends have had their Superwinch's for over 4 years and have been wheeling hard about 5-8 times a month and they are still running very strong. Its cheaper, just as good IMO, and well you'll have change left over to go try it out (put some gas in the tank hehe). Pretty much a preference on what you want to have on your rig. Anyways, good luck with the purchase.

Well not to get too technical but if you had to draw out let's say 50 ft of cable to winch out of a jamb. How long would it take to retreive that much cable for each. What ever is faster is what I'd more than likely get. I went cheap knowing I'm only going to use it to free me and not for rescue totally.

If you want one that can rescue you also then I'd consider the one that has the fastest recovery and retrieve.

I just went thru the agony you are experiencing right now a few weeks ago. I purchased the EPi 9 for $628 delivered to my front door. At present time, it has been on 6 days and with the snow and ice we have had in SW Missouri, I am up to 8 times I have pulled others out of ditches, stuck, etc. I chose the Superwinch because of price, warranty as I had poor service from Warn in the past and also because of the much better solenoid that Superwinch uses. Plus the extra 25 feet of cable and a 20,000 snatch block comes with it. Really a bargain!

I'm not knocking Warn, but I have had my Superwinch for over a year and use the hell out of it on long, hard pulls and I have never had one issue. Plus, I think it has pretty good speed.
