18s to 17's...life is good!
I bought my 2014 JKUS one year ago with a Fabtech 3" lift and Toyo MT's35x12.5R18. I didn't know anything about JK's and honestly it looked good and I was moving to Hawaii in the coming weeks so I bought it...basically it was a mall crawler.
Today I finally swapped out the 18's for 17's and I wish I would have done this in the beginning. The ride is so much better, smoother over bumps, not as jarring as the 18's. I didn't really expect that one inch woukd make such a difference in ride quality. I was running 25psi in my 18 Toyo's and it was still jarring over bumps. I am running 30psi in the 17's and its still smoother than the 18's at 25psi. Life is good, not to mention I went from a 10 inch rim to an 8.5 which will help when airing down.
Over the last year I have replaced my crappy Fabtach 3" lift with the components listed in my signature below. Hopefully this post will help some of the newbs when buying a JK already modded, or building their own from scratch.
