Default NOOB TO FORUM. Need some info on lift 2011 jku

What's up everyone, I have a 2011 jkur and have had it for a year. It is my DD and I'm looking for a lift. Nothing super aggressive and can keep the comfort. There's a lot of options and I'm just wondering if anyone can offer some input on their first lift and what they wanted and what they got. I'm sure I wanna keep it at 2.5", I think that would allow enough for larger tires. Thanks to everyone in advanced! Lookin forward for some interesting answers. And I should say, I'm not lookin to dump a ton of money into it because I do plan on building a 2 door.

Sorry if there's a thread on this already, I've been searching and haven't been able to find anything definitive.

Welcome to the forum!

Stickied on the top of this page is a thread on how to choose your lift. I suggest reading through that first.

This same question IS asked every other day so I'm willing to bet there are over a thousand threads on what you asked. Just search a bit longer, you'll find them!

Good luck!

P.S. I'd suggest a TeraFlex 2.5" Budget Boost with Rancho Control Arm Drop Brackets. Stay away from AEV drop brackets, they are weak.

Agreed on teraflex, but I'd look at the 2.5" coil lift. I just installed one on my buddy's 2-door. Most budget boosts use spacers and shock extenders. You'd benefit more in the long run with new longer coils and shocks. At 2.5" you won't need to replace as many components & a pair of adjustable front lower control arms will help set the caster correctly on the front axle if needed. I'm not a fan of drop brackets.

Agreed on the Teraflex as well. Lucky you too, cause you won't need an exhaust spacer!

I have the Teraflex 2.5" coil/shocks and its a great ride.

So I read a couple of places the teraflex shock and coil 2.5" lift is the way to go in a situation as my own. My next question would be is there anything else I would have to upgrade/replace with this kit to keep the ride comfortable and smooth enough?

Would disagree on the AEV brackets being weak. Was there when one took a big hit when a jeep slipped off a rock and landed straight on it with its full weight. bracket took it like a champ. Personally not a fan of drop brackets in general as they expose the controls arms.

Adding to this, the problem with the Rancho brackets is they are one size fits all whereas the AEV have three selections. As I recall, the Rancho are best for taller lifts (closer to the mid/high adjustment of the AEV brackets).

Agree that if you don't mind spending a little more money, a set of lower adjustable arms is the way to go. Should be able to find a lightly used set in the sale section for a great price.

As was mentioned in the first reply you got, there are a couple threads stuck right to the top of this modified area. In them you will find a ton of information, including what the specific components do, and some indications of what heights people might start to think about replacing them. That would be a really good place to start.

But, if you want a 2.5" lift, you don't 'have' to install anything but the coil or spacer. What else you might 'want' to install is completely up to you. Will you care about low caster? Both axles being offset? Stretched brakelines? Short links? Short bumpstops? None of us can tell you what 'your' preferences will be, we can only make recommendations, and those recommendations will depend on the lift height, the specific components installed, your normal use and needs, you budget, etc etc etc...
