Default Federal warranty on cat?

I bought my 08 JKU used with 60k miles on it. It's at 70k now and has developed a rattle that seems to be cat-related. My question is am I still covered under the federal warranty even though I'm not the original owner?

Also have a timing chain tick but that should be covered under my extended warranty plan.

It's. 8 years or 80,000 miles but the unit has to fail causing a code.

Unless Chrysler says you busted it. They don't like to replace such an expensive part, I've experienced this myself.

Hmm, it's not throwing a code but the rattle and loss of power is quite annoying. I guess all I can do aside from replacing the cats myself is driving her til it fails/throws a code and hope I'm still under 80k.

Does your motor use oil? Many 3.8's do, and guess where all that unburnt oil goes. As far as the rattle, make sure to check all your heat shields for broken welds.

Good luck man. I changed my y-pipe over the summer. My jeep popped the P0420 emissions code. I had a nasty rattle coming from one of my cats. It was toasted. Let me know if decide you need to replace. I may be able to save some blood sweat and tears for you.

Well, my JK finally threw a code related to the cat today. P0420 - Catalyst Efficiency Low (Bank 1).

I've got about 75k on the clock and it's an '08, so I should be covered right?

My question is what is my next step? Do I just drop it off at the dealership and they'll do their diagnostics and replace the cat (if it is indeed toast)?

Side note: The engine tick was fixed about a month ago under warranty by the dealership - replaced all lifters and rod bearings. Nice and quiet at idle now.

Called the dealership and the guy said he'd "order the part tonight and can get it installed Wednesday." I'm guessing he's referring to the converter but we'll see when I drop it off tomorrow.

Also going to bring up TSB 10044528 as my gas tank has either not been filling up all the way, or spits gas out when it does fill up completely.

Anyone reading this...? Forum seems dead.

Anyway, going to pick up my JK now. New cats and new fuel filler neck.
