Default Lifts and Driveshafts

I am a newbie to the Jeep world. I just purchased my 08' Unlimited X last weekend. I got a 4 door Unlimited X with power everything and hard top. I have been driving it for a week and love it. I am looking to get a lift kit in the next couple of weeks and need some advice. I am looking to put a 4" suspension lift and run 35" tires. I have been looking at all the kits availible and i think I am more lost now than when i started. These are a few of the kits i am looking at but I am not sure what one to purchase.

Rough Country
Tuff Country
Taraflex
Rancho
and others

My question is why do some kits say you need to modify the driveshaft and other do not. I was told that Rancho was the only kit that did not require the driveshafts to be lengthened. Is the correct? What kits do you all recomend? This is my daily driver so I still want a decent ride. My plan is drive the street 90% and trail ride maybe 10% of the time.

Thanks for the information and help
Matthew

Check out the Rustys 3.25 lift. Have seen many with no drive shaft problems \. Great lift for the money comes with front and rear adjustable trac arms.

Why no love for Full Traction? Great price (lots of different levels), easy install, and tough as hell. You should look into them!

If you drive a two door, a rear shaft is a good idea for 3" and over

Is this like a must do at time of lift, or eventually you'll need to, kind of thing. I was probably going to take your route and start with the 3" econo lift from FT and work my way up. Just wasn't sure how long they would last before funds accumulated.

well, I'd strongly suggest getting atleast adjustable arms for the rear so you can adjust your pinion angle and get your driveline as straight as possible.

its not something you need from the start, you can get by for awhile, but eventually it'll wair itself out.

On a 2 dr, is there a difference between the auto and the manual drive shaft lengths? Is it 3"= new shafts either way?

I ask because I got 2 7/8 lift out of mine and about 5000 miles. Both shafts still seem to be quite tight.
