What do you air down stock bfgoodrich mudterrains to?
Just curious for the stock Ruby wheels and tires what are you guys airing down to? Do you have a set number like take 12 or 15 psi out?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I don't have them, but would think that would be fine for rock crawling. However, would not recommend going that low for overlanding, where higher speeds are involved. 20 PSI. If you encounter a particularly technical stretch, air down to 12-15, then air back up to 20 as soon as cleared. This will help keep your sidewalls from becoming damaged.

I pay extra attention to your advice and experience. I greatly appreciate it. Sounds like I will likely stick around 20 for most of my off road work as you suggested. For some of the more interesting stuff down to 15. I was most worried about the tire coming off the bead and what that threshold may be. Sounds safe to run the numbers above.

They are pretty soft tires so they do ok. They look like they are flat at 10lbs. I went all thru the dunes at Oceano but was careful not to get down into any real big bowls as I was worried the JK wouldnt be able to power out of them. Its tough with a Rubi as 4hi has no power and 4lo is too low.
I keep mine at 20psi off road. No sand in Colorado, but it does just fine on the mountain passes. 4-hi does suck, that is why I wheel in 4-lo. I find that 4-lo has lots of power if you pick the right gear. I guess that doesn't apply to an auto trans thou. If I get on-board air someday I might risk a lower psi...
